2011 Citreon Ds3. Service Question

citreon ds3, ive had it 18 months now without service, why should i need to get it serviced ? i was told most of servicing charges are a right bloody rip off anyway.

how much is the average oil / filter change service charge ? what should i expect to pay, yesterday i was quoted £70 .

the car has only 29000 miles on clock. ive done around 15000

You car is now outside the manufacturers warranty period. So it's up to you whether you you want to service it with oil/filter changes and if it fails due to poor or irregular servicing you can only blame yourself.

If your going to do all of the yearly servicing your self thats fine, but not doing oil/filter changes is debatable.

I would not buy a second car that had no service history of regular maintenance.

I only drive about 5000 miles a year but I have the oil & filter changed every i2 months. I agree about having a service history - lack of one will reduce the value of the car.

Was it a main dealership that quoted you £70 ?. Get a quote from an independent garage or probably cheaper still from a mobile mechanic.
By the way your putting your car into the bottom book category if you ever want to px it against another car ( bad service record ).

ok fair dues guys thnx. i was quoted £70 for oil / filter change, then this morning i went to another garage and quoted £130 for a polen and oil change. then just around corner i went to yet another garage the guy seemed genuine and he quoted me £30 for oils filter plus £20 for labour so £50 all in.

so i will have the lowest price do the service. these were all independent garages , no way would i bring my motor to a dealership , everyone knows how much of a rip off these dealerships can be.

is there anything else i should have done ? cheers

If I were you I'd get the brake pads checked for wear as well.

You've spent a few thousand getting a decent car...then quibble about a few hundred pounds on a service. Unless you are doing a high mileage why not just book it in for a full service and MOT once a year. That will make the vehicle much more desirable to a future purchaser and support it's resale value, plus you'll be driving your car with a lot more peace of mind.
