I don't think his sound is down to technique as such but by the way he made his guitar....he used a sort of resin to fit in the different pick ups on his guitar and this produces the sound that his guitar makes.....A true genius a brilliant guitar player and made his guitar himself.

Not sure I'd want to take a home built one of a kind guitar on tour but there you go.... He plays it with a coin instead of a pick too.
