We have a piece of artex on a ceiling 6" in diameter flaking away. Can someone say how we could do a simple 'fix' to it.

We had this, and I managed to fix it in an incredibly simple way.

I simply loaded a paintbrush with emulsion and pushed paint in as much as possible. I then used the same brush to push the flaking bits back into place.

Now you can't see that there was ever a problem.
With all respect to Hoppers, I think he might have been very lucky. I've never seen a repair to Artex that didn't look awful. Perhaps his ceiling had been emulsioned over the Artex.

With unpainted ceilings, the pattern may be Ok but the colour will never match unless the whole ceiling is painted afterwards.

Your success with the patterning will depend on what you have ....... stipple/leather/swirls? etc
I think Build is right, the whole ceiling had been emulsioned before.

Tried Hopkirk's method and so far holding good. I also believe that we have previously emulsioned the Artex.
