With all the recent historic sex abuse cases involving 'public figures' just how much of this do you suppose actually went on back in the 50s 60s 70s ?
The vast majority of cases must have involved 'ordinary people' who are not newsworthy. I think there must be 1,000s of cases we will never hear about.

How will we ever know Eddie? I suspect that sexual abuse of children has been going on for centuries.

Yes....it's still going on. Paedophiles who can't resist their urges. I'm sure there's still numerous children that are being abused that are told if they tell their family will die...etc.

One old bagga told me about being abused in a barnardo's home in the 1900s

and I asked my brother if it should be reported or annotated in anyway and he said oh no historically we have known about this for yonx ( and that was in the nineties )


I do wonder about false-memory syndrome. we have known about that for along time. My father before his death 1970 - said " you hear about these cases and the ( concentration ) camps and I was in a (POW) camp and a lot of these things run together. I wouldnt like to swear about dates times and places as really you cant be sure - that is why we keep written records ... " All the old lags used to get together at regular intervals and swap/repeat stories and so it all became a group memory....
