hi there i am currently in a bit of debt not alot but enough for me i owe about 2500 to credit cards and a couple of hundred on utility bills etc i have a morgage and have been offered various loans secured on my house which i dont really want to do however i have been in touch with a company who have offered to consolidate my debts and i pay them each month i am not sure though if this is like an iva which i dont want to do either just wondering if anyone knows or has some thoughts on what is best to do thanks

This sounds like a debt management company who will charge you a fee each month and manage your debt. I would go and speak to a mortgage broker who will probably find a deal which will save you money.

If the amount you owe is as small as you say, can't you get a personal loan to pay the debts off?

finding it difficult to get a personal loan as i am one morgage payment behind and i have a default on my credit file from a mobile phone company from 5 years ago
I would recommend you go to www.cccs.co.uk.

My personal opinion is don't go with this company. Remember they'll be charging you to do whatever they do. With a bit of research and letter writing, you could probably do just what they're going to do, for free.


Go and ask the CAB for advice. It's free and they're usually very good at this sort of thing.
