how does this work the? you have to work 36 years to geta full state pension? which is about £141.can any one explain why we pay so much national insurance

I am not sure that the average person's NI contributions (say £2000 a year for 36 years =£72000) actually covers the cost of the pension (£141 x 52 weeks x 20 years = £146640) based on current life expactancy
