I have three left. I have the answers but am struggling with the derivations.

Fairy tale year following heir a little way inside (7, 5) S_ _ _E_S/_T_RY
I'm dismayed second French wife's our for a run (6, 2) _E_R_E/_E
Prevent sailors breaking bottle (8) _ _ _E_T_P

I think the answers are spiders story, dearie me and sidestep but the origins are not clear to me.

I know, but why?
Success St or y
Success story - 'y(ear)' (after) 'st(reet)' (in) 'successor' (heir)
Working on it Dr D
Screwtop (bottle) - 'crew' (sailors, breaking; in) 'stop' (prevent)
Question Author
