With the present situation re. People trying to flee from troubled middle east countries would it be possible to find room in a sparsely populated part of the north American continent where presumably new citizens would start a completely new life far away from the strife.
I was just thinking there must still be one or two places on this planet that has plenty of room & remember that nobody asked the Palestinians before creating the new state of Israel.
I travelled a lot in France last year and they have loads of land and empty areas but no industries or any form of work in these areas, plus they are not so soft with the handouts.
Scotland.Put your money where your mouth is Nicola. You want more housing for immigrants. Plenty of open land in the Highlands and Glens to build on.Sure the Stags won't raise objections.
Britain is still around 90% rural. That's not the point tho. They have to be housed, fed, clothed etc etc and preferably employed which costs the host nation dearly (assuming we're talking mass immigration which your post suggests) this then leads into politics and whether the incumbent government would be prepared to open its doors.
Knoydart peninsular ( not in Liberia bythe way ) has not people at all but lots of stags ( who dont have the vote yet, but if they did, it would be Nicky's problem and not ours )
The USA had free immigration until the 1920s, anyone could just turn up and move in

Even as late as the 1960s it was still possible to get in fairly easily.
I would be nice to consult the natives of the country who are being asked to accept them. Unlike we were, unprepared to accept the sheer mass, before housing and schools etc. were even considered.
