Joshua Rozenberg in his piece in Guardian yesterday

http://www.theguardian.com/law/2015/apr/22/critics-of-lord-janner-decision-misunderstand-justice-system

quoted that "I have no independent confirmation of the doctors’ reports. All I can say is that the last time I saw Janner in public – which must have two or three years ago – he could no longer remember anybody else’s name. A colleague who saw him at around the same time says he was “away with the fairies”.
If this is so why was he allowed to attend parliament and vote on laws if he was known not to have the mental capacity to know what he voting on. Apart from the abuse allegations it makes an absolute mockery of the political system, god I hope they get to the bottom of this, some hope though the establishment will just close ranks tighter.

CPS may think there is a case to answer to.
They do not decide guilt.
I am reminded of Ernest Saunders of the Guinness trial fame.

He was released from prison on account of his incurable dementria, then went on to make a full recovery.
Maybe the universe has tried and convicted the alleged pervert.
Karma, apparently, is a beatch.
Good to know you have incompetent people helping to create your laws.
(snicker, snicker)
Hopkirk Yes , the problem is you can never prove Alkzheimers until after death when you section the brain for analysis.
Not wrong Hopkirk.
We had this fella called Alan Bond out here.
Made squilions ripping people off and destroying companies he bought.. When he had to stand trial, guess what, he had dementia and couldn't be tried properly.
Managed to transfer all his holdings into other peoples names before the *** hit the fan though.
Makes one wonder ;-)
didn't kevin wilson do a song about alan bond?
If the CPS have enough compelling evidence to charge Janner does it matter that he ( Janner) would be unfit / unable to attend a trial ? J Saville was found well & truly guilty of all charges & he was dead.
//J Saville was found well & truly guilty of all charges //

can you really say that to be true? his guilt (or otherwise) has never been tested in court, before a panel of his peers.
If Lord Janner's vote was critical in something getting through the Lords then the issue must have already been approved of by the Commons and at worse split the vote in the Lords, so I don't think it is a critical issue; albeit one that should be looked at.
Yes mush
About an Abbo family moving in next to him if I recall.
Hopkirk @0916
It reminds me of the Libyan Lockerbie bomber on deaths door who gullible eck let out the door. He lasted a few years longer than "imminent".
If there are any Americans now living in Scotland I doubt they would vote SNP given a chance but that's another subject.
Mush...but nobody now doubts Saviles guilt do they ? Even his own family have given up on your argument.

He should have been tried and convicted when he was still alive, of course, but it really doesn't matter too much now does it ?

Because people are innocent until proved guilty, doesn't mean that they aren't supposed to be guilty, other wise they wouldn't be standing trial in the first place. Perhaps we should say instead

" Innocent but presumed guilty " instead ?
It was Kenny MacAskill who released the Lockerbie bomber.
