Taste And Smell Never Returned After Cold

I had a heavy cold 3 weeks ago lasting 8 days with the usual cold symptoms.
However, since then my sense of smell and taste have not returned to normal.
I can't taste my food correctly and my sense of smell is only just picking up scents.

When will my senses return to normal?
Is there anything I can do to speed things up?

I hope it works, Fanriffic. I hate doing it myself but it does seem to be effective.

I presume from what you say, that there is no nasal blockage or nasal discharge and i will continue on that assumption.

It may well be that your sense of smell and taste, may never return, but as a last throw of the dice, nasal steroid sprays may well help. Flixonase, which apparently has a new name of which I have forgotten, can be purchased over the counter and should be used.

I had a really bad cold this time last year and it took ages and ages for my sense of smell to get back to normal - weeks and weeks and weeks

tis called Pirinase in its OTC form.

there is also Beconase which is a different steroid, Beclometasone dipropionate. How do I know this? because I am dealing with sinus problem myself which sterimar has failed to fix.

I had a really nasty upper respiratory infection in January and still cannot smell anything. Taste is also impaired. Have tried Pirinase but no change.
My GP said it might take months, or as Dr.Sqad said, may not return at all :-(

Perhaps menthol crystals in a bowl of steaming water to inhale.
