Strokes
8 Answers
Hi About ten days or so I suffered a mild stroke,I was in my local pub and suddenly I found that it was difficult to talk properly, it felt as if my tongue was stuck to the top of my mouth,I shrugged it off and put it down to too much to drink. The following day was no better so my wife made an appointment with our local GP,He checked me out and referred me to our local hospital where the following day I was checked into a stroke ward and went through a series of tests.CTC, Cardiograph, ultrasound,bp, reflexes etc. At the end of the tests the doctor said yes I had had a small stroke but the tests showed no significant reason for it so he has put me on aspirin and statins( cholesterol a little high).I am already on tablets for high blood pressure so I'm beginning to rattle a bit. I should add that I'm no spring chicken ..78..so maybe I should expect these things to happen.I am writing this to you nice people to ask for any similar experiences and the outcome of such. Thank you for reading this.S.O.G.

However TIAs aren't particularly uncommon (particularly in those of us 'of advancing years') so you've probably got nothing much to worry about - unless the quacks tell you to stop drinking, of course!

sad old git.........no I haven't had a "personal" experience and i am not sure whether i would classify, your episode as a TIA or "small stroke", but to me it doesn't matter, as the management and treatment is just the same.
Your management has been competent as has your treatment regime and you should see the next decade out.
