My computer sets my date to 2001. It is easy to correct this on control panel but it is a nuisance. How do I fix?

It probably means the small battery inside the computer has failed and needs to be replaced.

This small battery is used to keep things like date , time, and other details, when the computer is switched off.

When the battery fails the date and time revert to the defaults when the computer is switched off.

Probably by changing the motherboard/cmos battery

Thank you. I didn't know that it did reset to default so I'll change the battery which will save resetting the date. Thanks.
