Best Free Or Cheap Virus Protections?

Hi everyone! With XP support now having ended it looks to me like Security Essentials also seem no longer to be available. This means my computer has at the moment little or no protection. Can anyone please advise on free or inexpensive virus protection for my computer? many thanks in advance. xxx

Microsoft Security Essentials for XP has been extended to July2015.

Even when MSE is withdrawn, there will still be available Free Anti Virus programmes.

why does everybody get so excited over mse, i´ve had it for quite a while now, and its done nothing regards removing virus´s or warning me of something potentially harmful. what exactly is its function?

I always feel you get what you pay for. I go for Kaspersky every time.

MSE was described by Microsoft themselves (recently) as giving only minimum protection...which should be supplemented with something better!

I have used AVG for years, and i surf a lot. It is free, and always does the job.

MSE is now back in the frame as a good AV.

I would say that it is excellent if installed along with the free edition of Malwarebytes.

It appears that the best free AV programmes are AVG and Avast.

Comodo is still supports Windows XP . I have been using this in my office systems which running through windows xp. I don't think other antivirus product supporting XP.
