He was given the opportunity tonight on Question Time when the presented him with a chocolate/marzipan hat, They also followed up on Alistair Campbell’s promise to eat his kilt if the SNP got 58 seats, with a chocolate kilt. I don’t know if anyone tried a bite because I gave up halfway through Ashdown and Campbell were still blaming the Tories rather than examining their own failings.. I suspect it was too far beneath their supposed dignity to actually do anything they had promised.

But then the SNP got 56 seats and the poll Ashdown wanted to be wrong was in the end optimistic for the Lib Dems by two seats! So I guess he gets away without having to eat his hat after all.
