Should we be worried about this asteroid that is heading its way to Earth, and reaching Earth this Thursday? It is a mile wide and apparently if it hits the Earth it can cause mass destruction and earthquakes.

joggerjayne, if the mile wide asteroid lands on Hove town hall I fear it will also put a bit of a dent in the Seagulls stadium. However, on the bright side, it will also put an end to the most expensive pies in English league football scandal. :o)

Its a mile wide and will 'skim' the Earth. The report I read says it will fly 6 million miles away from our planet. I think that's a safe enough distance!

It is 52 metres wide on sources I can see and is going to pass 12 times further away than the moon.
I don't think I'll keep the cats in.
