Solitaire Icon Stuck
11 Answers
My icon for solitaire is stuck at the bottom of the screen. I have tried to uninstall it so that I can install it once more. Every time I do this I'm told that that solitaire is already installed with no indication of how to get rid of it. I miss my daily challenge and would like to get to the gold medal before the end of the month. one tell me how I can get it to work please.

Of WHAT??? Are you using a Windows PC, an Android tablet or an iPhone (or, indeed, something completely different)?
Is the 'solitaire' you refer to a program that came with your PC (or one you downloaded), an app that came with your tablet/phone, or something else. (There are hundreds of different Windows programs for playing solitaire and probably just as many apps for Android, etc).

Sorry. I've been so obsessed with this business for about a week. Here goes. I have an asus notebook which was preprogrammed with Windows 8. I have since downloaded Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the ms solitaire collection from the store and it was working perfectly at first. Then for some unknown reason when I was in the middle of doing the puzzle the screen went back to the desktop and the icon appeared at the bottom. A touch on the icon (touchscreen) brought solitaire back but from the beginning and I had to start from scratch. A similar thing was happening with jigsaw. Jigsaw works properly now most of the time. Although I have had a computer for a few years now I am not familiar with all the jargon. (There was no such thing as a computer when I went to school) so if you can direct me to put this right please keep it simple. I using avast free antivirus. Thank you for taking the trouble.
Hmmm.
I'm rather concerned that googling for 'Zvpebfbsg' finds (as the very first link) a Microsoft report of a trojan adding that same sequence of letters to files:
http:// www.mic rosoft. com/sec urity/p ortal/t hreat/e ncyclop edia/En try.asp x?Name= Trojan% 3AWin32 %2FCrop run.A#t ab=1
So the very first thing you need to do is to run a FULL security scan with Avast and let us know if that finds anything nasty.

Thank you methyl. I have run a second malwarebytes scan and come up with the the answer 'no threats found'. As to what 'the store' is, have Windows 8.1 installed on my machine and the store contains all Microsoft apps. It was from this t I downloaded the microsoft Solitaire collection. As to how I tried to uninstall it I went back to the store and could find nothing saying uninstall. In fact, all I get is that 'This app is installed on this machine' As to the other 2 websites you mention I have never even heard of them and have certainly not downloaded anything from them. I think I can do a recovery which appears you are advocating. According to the blurb I would not lose any files, emails etc. I wait to hear from you again before I attempt this step. By the way what is O/P an abbreviation for?
Well!!!! By dint of trying all sorts of means to get back my solitaire, I went on to a help website, can't remember which. However there ere all sorts of questions and answers and one of them caught my eye. This was 'How to uninstall and reinstall an app which came from the Microsoft store' Having thought about doing a System Restore and getting half way to the end I jibbed at reinstalling everything afterwards so gave that up.
I came back to uninstalling and this is what I did.
1. Select the Store tile.
2. Right click on the app icon(in this case it was Solitaire) and choose 'uninstall' from the bottom menu.
3. Press window key and R together.
4. In the box which comes up type wsreset.exe and press enter.
5. Windows Store launches with the cache nice and clean.
6. Click on Solitaire Collection. It said I owned it.
7. Install Solitaire collection.
Back it came. Jigsaws was still there and so was the record of all the puzzles I have managed to do so far this month. Now I am busy catching up on the 6 days when it was out of action.
I know this is a bit longwinded but I thought it might be useful to anybody else who finds themselves in the same situation.
Thank you to Methyl and Buenochico for taking the trouble to help. I might need your help another time.
