No one doctor can be available 7 days a week.
Nope. Our GP rarely available 5 days a week. Cameron talking out of his as....hole
no. It's possible that surgeries with more than one doctor could open 7 days, though, as any shop does. It's not as though people refrain from getting sick at weekends.
I thought.......could be wrong......that Gordon Brown said the very same thing as the BMA got that bonanza for GP's from Labour some 8 years ago.

Never happened........never will happen.
No I'm afraid not but it would be excellent if this could happen as no one can predict they will become ill in office hours, unfortunately the last agreement allowed doctors to work less hours not more so I don't know how this will work?
Because of the Brown bonanza deal, doctors at most surgeries only need to work 2 or 3 days per week. In surgeries with many doctors, I have never seen all rooms in use.
Ours are only available five days a week, you can't always guarantee which doctor you see either.
The only way that this is feasible is to train and employ a great many more GPs and nurse practitioners (since NPs can offer many of the services and prescriptions these days which GPs can do) - but knowing first hand the pressures in primary care at the moment, I can't see this working. Cameron says £2bn extra will go into the NHS - that won't cover the cost of employing all these extra senior staff, keeping the premises open and heated, etc.
Did he really say that ‘all doctors’ will be available 7 days a week? I doubt that very much. Doctors are available 7 days a week now, but you’re unlikely to get a visit from a doctor you know in the middle of the night. Perhaps he meant surgeries that have several doctors will work a rota system so that one or more of them is always on call.

ok, not all doctors available 7 days a week but surgeries, and i think most people knew what i meant
I thought the other day he said that surgeries would be open seven days a week using consultants rather than doctors?
More consultants will be available at the weekends in hospitals.
They are not going to like that are they, goodness knows how they are going to fund said suggestion!
Ha, Chance would be a fine thing.
'my' doc.only available 2/3 days a week, often not get an apt. for weeks, not surprising people go to a/e or drop in centres,ie Boots,
The Labour Party did a deal with the GPs some years ago and their hours were cut dramatically, no evenings or weekends. In my opinion that is the cause of many of the problems we see now in the NHS, as it has had a knock-on effect right through from surgeries to A & E.
They will say anything to gain power. I am sick of them. No my surgery does not provide this service.
