At long last I applied for a passport since last one was Jan 14. Anyway goes to the post office and behind grids etc nice fella was dealing with me. So he is checking the information on the form and I asked him how much is it today and I lipread him saying 25. Here's me happy days.

When I put my card in it came up £82.25 - I near took a canary.

Thanks, we bought Irish Passports, 85 Euros each
What's a canary?
coronary?
You pay nearly a tenner of that fee, Jennyjoan, just for the guy at the Post Office counter to have a quick flick through your form to check if it looks OK. It would have only cost you £72.50 by post:

Maybe?
