after that, though, nothing for ages. They threw away the 1931 results and 1941 was cancelled, so you'll be waiting from 2021 to 2051, by which time I won't need to look up my ancestors becasue I'll have joined them.
UK census records are kept confidential for 100 years before being made because the government are overly protective of our data.
I think the last census was in 2011 wasn't it ? In which case unless they change the rules it will be available to the public (presumably online) in 2111.

before its time apparently as a result of a FOI ( freedom of information request ). I am not sure what happened.
1931 - thrown away - long history of councils being told to destroy their census returns and they looked at all that work and .... didnt throw it away

there was then a realisation that being asked what your occupation was,
was different to whether they were employed or unemployed
