for corruption by the Swiss, extradition to the States as the FBI has been investigating. six arrested and apparently up to 10 to be charged/

I'm not really into football but I did read the news out to the OH. He didn't look at all surprised.

from past observation, apparently football is above the law - at the end of the day, there will be no case to answer.

I don't know how the US can pull it off if it isn't American or involved activity on US soil.....or perhaps it's their 'we are the sheriff of the world?' mentality.

I don't think anyone will be surprised at the suspicion of corruption.
I am a bit surprised that the US police have this under their jurisdiction, but glad that someone has taken action. I hope they get the waterboards out.

I am not in the slightest bit surprised DTC. For an organisation to award a future World Cup, to a country that is geographically unsuitable, nothing can surprise me ! Qatar doesn't even have any grass to play football on !

I bet this is only the surface of what is a very deep lake of corruption and misdoing......how can they have the election on Friday now?

I'm only surprised it took so long. There have been strong suggestions of corruption for years. It is well known that some countries/people whose votes were needed suddenly found themselves richer than they had been before the votes - it has been going on for decades to my knowledge, and I have no interest in football at all. It just appears in so many headlines, you can't not realise what is going on.

Most of Blatter's rivals for the FIFA presidency 'withdrew' leaving only the Jordanian prince. It is hard to see how the whole rotten show can go on.
FIFA should really be abolished and a new organisation created. And the 2018 and 2022 World Cups either cancelled or relocated.
