what exactly are they? What benefits does being one confer? I looked via google, but couldn't really work it out - it just seemed like supported living for ex servicemen?

Widower (vulnerable) ex servicemen care home.
Nursing home and care for ex Army personnel, not RAF or navy just Army.
It is supported living but it runs like being in a regiment with uniform and ranks - that's what I recall from the programmes about it a year or so back. Quite hard to get in I believe.
Is now also open to ex-servicewomen.
My late uncle was a Chelsea Pensioner.
I thought you would have known the answer to your q!
