Me and a couple of friends are planning a couple of days in London

Q1, have heard that London transport is now cashless and you have to purchase an oyster card. Is this true and if so how much is a days oyster card and is it useable on both tube and bus?

Q2, Can anyone recommend a hotel or b&b? 3 single bed room, dont fancy sharing a bed with one of my hairy ar$ed mates...

Q3, Travelling from stoke on trent. What would be the cheapest train fare? Not bothered about times etc, just want a cheap ticket.

My mates got a penfriend in London, she came up to Stoke for a couple of days a few months ago (not much to see here) and we are planning on returning the compliment. I love London anyway.

I've been on the Eye twice, Nailit....once was great but the second was a birthday treat for one of the girls....a day like today....chucking it down with rain....didn't see a thing....underground station we needed flooded and I sat in a puddle....it was an August birthday......We had to buy a bag of bin liners to make rain cloaks.......☺

Twice for me too, first in daylight and second timed by son to see London lighting up, really brilliant. The tube scares me a bit, so many people rushing and all seem to know where they are going

Last time on London eye it was evening, great to see London all lit up.
Dont know what it it is, but I love riding the tube....

You can still buy a ticket on the Tube with cash, in any of the ticket machines.

I have stayed at the President, in Russell Square many times. It is situated just north of Covent Garden, and is covenient for the West End.

bus drivers won't take cash, so you'd need a car for bus travel. Rember you have to touch in and out on the tube with an Oyster card but only once on a bus.

you can also buy a one day travel ticket at any tube station [ask at station for free tube map.] and they are cheaper if you dont intend to travel before 9.30am, use on any red bus or tube. Depends on how much sightseeing/travelling u intend to do that particular day an oyster might work out cheaper, your London pen pal friend should be able to advise you, don't forget to take in at least one show and you can get cheaper theatre tickets at the hut in Leicester Square on the day or search the net before you go.
