Is this how Labour lost the seat that they held for 23 years, to the Tories ?
Smith has admitted giving Kim Rose, the UKIP candidate documents and advice. Rose said he was making these allegations because "in the cold light of day" he saw the situation was "completely wrong"

My mistake was not posting the PressReader link in the first place. I hadn't realised that the two headlines were so different. But I am glad that you have accepted, at last, that I wasn't "spinning" or making things up.
But, leaving aside the headline, the body of the report remains the same. There appears to be something rotten in the heart of Hampshire, if this really did go on. Don't forget, its not the Labour Party that reported this to the Police, but the UKIP candidate himself, for which I happily give him credit for. Putting an image of Fagin on an Election leaflet is unhelpful in the least and positively racist in the worst.
I think we two can put this to bed now.

Plenty of things get reported to the police that are not crimes. The police are obiged to look at a complaint, but it does not mean anything untoward has occurred, or that a prosecuted or conviction will follow.
I suspect the police will report that no laws have been broken.
The incumbant Labour candidate seems to have been out smarted. Sums up the entire Labour election campaign.
