It's keeping pretty good time for an old girl. I say "girl" as it's probably a ladies' size watch, but not necessarily.

It's a fine piece of workmanship, stuey. Do you know anything about its - sorry, her - history?
Made in England?
Question Author
No provenance at all. Bought it off a guy for $25. The movement was made in the States, as indicated in the photos, and the case was made in Toronto so it was probably purchased initially by a Canadian.
Where does the battery go?
Fine bit of workmanship from people whose only tools were axes.
Question Author
It's solar powered, shoota.
Nice stuey, whatever floats your boat :-)
I need to be nice as I often wondered about asking you a favour. I inherited a pendulum clock that was made by my great great grandfather. When I first got it, it worked but didn't keep very good time. The chiming never worked though. Now it doesn't work for more than about 5 minutes. I've often though I should get it fixed bit I wouldn't know where to start or who to ask. Would you have a look if I posted a couple of pics - just for your opinion, not for you to fix it of course.
One day Stu I'll show you mine....
very nice....not so much showing off as " show and tell "

[ I took a first edition Gray's Anatomy in to show a few junior doctors, and one priddy girlie said: "whaddya doing that for -yeah- wha' ?" and I said:
'because you are unlikely to see another one during the rest of your professional life.' and she said - so what ? ]
Can't possibly be female, stuey, if it keeps good time:-)
Oooh, nice, shiny. :-)

Love the design
Lol prudie, he's not Uri Geller. (I don't think)
Question Author
Prudie, that's a fairly old clock and probably needs a major cleaning and oiling by a clockmaker. Photos of it, especially the movement of course, would be interesting.

Question Author
You're right, Peter, The overhauling is not inexpensive; however, if the clock has monetary and/or sentimental value then...Well, it's up to the owner to decide.

Question Author
Those prices are quite a bit more than over here.
I swallowed a bit
