Install Loft Boards

I intend to have approx Twenty 8 x 2 foot loft boards installed in my attic. How long would a carpenter take to complete the job, would he finish in one day?

Should easily be done in a day assuming the loft is clear. In an 8 hour day, it's only 2 and a bit boards per hour.

I'm the world's worst DIYer but I still managed to do the job in my own loft in a morning!

Yes, he should be. The only thing that could slow things up is if you have a fairly modern house, and the roof is made up with trusses. Fitting boards around all the posts takes a lot longer.
