Your help in explaining 19a please.
Clue : Musical tenor quits? Could be me? (3,7)
Answer : Cat Stevens
musical = cats
tenor = t
quits = evens
But .... how does the rest of the clue (could be me) work?

quits is also evens so cat s t evens

OK ... I get that part, but I don't see how the "could be me" is working
I think 'could be me' is just indicate that the answer is someone's name!

I've been pondering further .. based on"me" being the crossword setter and Cat Stevens being a song writer

So the straight clue is pointing towards one who sets down words?

I'd call THAT obscure.
