Chimenea's
Hi hopefully someone can help.. I live in a first floor maisonette and my lounge window over looks my neighbours garden.. Well a couple of years ago she starting lighting a chimenea and the smoke flooded my lounge. I went to the council who stated they couldn't do it, and wrote to all the court I live in with that effect - not singling me out as the complainer.. So it stopped for a couple of years but she has recently started again. I don't want to go all summer again with smoke in my lounge.. I have to have the windows closed and I am asthmatic.. What can I do- I will go to the council again obviously but does anyone know..
Thanking you all in advance

We have recently had trouble with people burning rubbish all day, everyday and we contacted our local council. They can act when the smoke is causing a nuisance and affecting other people's quality of life. Certainly the smoke blowing into your flat would count as a nuisance so I would report it. I have lived above this woman for nearly 30 years and no matter how many times I have tried to converse she hasn't given me, my partner or children the time of day.. She even worked where I worked for a couple of years and never spoke.. Apart from the occasional snide comment. Most of the properties are council and we purchased a couple of years ago, taking advantage of the right to buy and discount and we have updated and renovated a lot and I've been round to say there might be a bit of noise due to removing tiles etc and she has only an served haven't you done enough yet?
Can I still go to the council I must have the same right etc

Ours were very good and were out the next day and spoke to the chap who was doing it and he stopped immediately. The council asked us to let them know if we have any more trouble. You can't be expected to put up with that all summer. Good Luck.
You might get some advice from the Health and Safety Executive, particularly if you mention the effect on your health.
