sorry only daily mail covering this at present:-

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3120407/Primary-schools-ban-Muslim-pupils-fasting-Ramadan-one-saying-health-risk-young-children.html

the article includes a facsimile of the letter sent to parents on this matter, and it seems to have been handled sensitively.

nevertheless, is it any business of the school how its community chooses to express their faith?

"Is Ramadan is a moveable occasion it will eventually be that time in the UK, for a year at least."

Yes. It is earlier each year by about ten or eleven days.

"it is 15 for a boy and 9 for a girl so it will not affect many pupils at a primary school."

About one in three of the girls then. So not very many. If foster parents or prospective adopters suggestedd that they would deprive a nine year old girl in their care of food and drink for about seventeen hours a day for a month

[anyone else noticed AB submitting ansers prematurely?]

If foster parents or prospective adopters suggested that they would deprive a nine year old girl in their care of food and drink for about seventeen hours a day for a month in high summer, what sort of reaction might that provoke from Social Services d'ya think?

As I said earlier, the age that children should start fasting for Ramadan is not set in stone, nor in the Koran.
Some Muslims believe 7 is the right age, others 15 for both boys and girls, whilst many others believe it is somewhere between the two.
Sometime I do believe that AB is full of self made scholars of Islam and most of them are atheists. It is a simple matter that kids are not allowed to fast and as I said earlier that the parents should be aware of it and they are. End of the story.

And look at this thread.
Keyplus, it must be an issue otherwise the school wouldn't have a problem with it. Muslims don't all behave as you behave.

Not me, I'm a scholar of common sense.

Kids were not designed to randomly starve themselves.
Nor were adults!
Why do we pay Muslim policemen, firemen, etc. who can't do their jobs properly due to fasting? (in fact, they are a danger to the public)
