My father is not mentioned on my birth certificate & my direct relatives won't or can't tell me. Is there anyway of searching or do I just accept that fact that I am not gonna find out.
Born after ww2 I was eventually adopted but the birth family will just hint that he MAY have been Canadian/American. Could he have been in the war?
As my birth Mother died 1970' I don't know how to search. Any ideas?

If not registered, short of forcing all the men in the world of the right age range to have a DNA test, it must be nigh impossible to find out.

You may strike lucky at the genealogy sites that match DNA but I'd not hold my breath.

I suspect relatives are your best hope. If they even know. Or better still, accept what you can not change. I'm sure you're a great person whoever your father was/is.

Thanks for that. Have recently written to an Aunt & step brother so await their response.
Unless you can get a name from a relative you have very little if any hope.
There were a lot of babies fathered by US and Canadian servicemen at that time.
remember, the worst case scenario is that even your mother didn't know.

To jno; Yes she knew him as he supported her for first few months. I have this in writing in a letter an Aunt sent me many years ago. Unfortunately she is no longer with us.
