Could a couple of implants on top and bottom jaws be used as anchors for conventional dentures?
my dentist is Polish, working for an English practise. Not sure I would go abroad. I have heard of some problems. Why not talk to your dentist and see what they say. A full set of implants may not be needed to give you a good smile, as Sandy has suggested.
Sandy I have just finished nearly a year of getting only
an upper front denture of 4 teeth done. Hard work let me tell you.

You must wear false teeth for 7 months until the gum shrink with that - get used to the bloody adhesive which I hated. Get impressions done which made me gag - anyway I myself know my mouth is not in a great state ie sensitivity and she told me herself I have gum disease etc - I got the chromium plate holding the teeth - altogether over the 7 month the lot may have cost me £2,000-£2,500 - it has been difficult to get them in and out but am getting there - I don't know where you are getting £18,000 for top and bottom - are they acrylic - if they are and you are on a pension credit you get them for nothing. any way as she said Lucy (dentist) - Conne - they are still a denture and nearly pleads with me to still think about the implants. So how much would there be £5,000 - I guess a £1,000 a tooth. Also getting the implants with getting all the work involved usually takes a year. Minds you since the start of my work the months fell in unbelievable. There is a lady Dee Sa on here and she got the lot done in Poona India (took a great chance on anything going wrong) but she is one hell of a happy lady. If I had the money I would give it you Sandy contrary to what certain people think of me. xx
Sandy i think the answer to that depends on your jawbone density. DH had implants then a 3 tooth bridge between the two but he had decent bone. I can't have that.
anyway everybody's mouth is completely different - I believe in Lucy Jaffa - if there is a tiniest bit of bone in your mouth she could make you a nice set of teeth good luck Sandy -
if you go for the denture option I believe the dentists at Sunnyside Street are really great. Lucy doesn't do nhs only private

I'll go back to my dentist and ask if she could save enough teeth to act as anchors for new dentures and have the rest out. Implants are far too expensive.
I think that's the best thing to do Sandy :)

If only others would follow suit. ☺ ^
I just can't help myself sometimes - I just can't shut up, even on cyberspace. :-)

I have to admit that I thought that there would be a more technical answer. :-)
