Benefits Britain?

Just watching this. What is the reason for showing this programme? Is it to arouse our sympathy for these people, or to make us feel distaste at their profligate and dissolute lives? You will doubtless deduce my reaction from my choice of adjectives there; but I would be interested to hear ABs' views.

This statement..
//So are you saying let them lazy about watching TV, smoking , Drinking, whilst other people are working for a living & keeping the?// and your next one, proves the point - 'they' in your mind is everyone.
What of those who walk miles each day from workplace to workplace circulating their CV - spend hours trawling the net trying to locate a vacancy?
All the while trying to feed themselves and often children, fighting rising debts that accrue along the way.
Never generalise.
