The reason I mention it is because I was going to post that "Dance with the devil" by Cozy Powell is also my favourite drum solo, even if it doesn't quite qualify for this thread.

Best drum intro ever ? Definitely, without any doubt, 'Chinetown' by 'The Move' - Roy Wood's original band. Starts with a gong and then goes right around the kit finishing with alternating stereo-panned toms. You just can't get a better introduction than that ! Second best ? Has to be Deep Purple's 'Fireball'. Starts with the sound of a machine starting up, follow ed by only about three bars of drums, one bar of bass and thenheadlong into the song ! In third place I'd lie to put a track by 'The Glitter Band' as Gary Glitter's backing goup included two drumkits ! They never really did make full use the the stereo possibilities and anyway - I can't remember the name of the track !
