hi i work for a company who dosnt pay any extra for working bank holiday we dont even get anything extra for working easter sunday & easter monday the only time we get extra is christmas day and new years day we dont even get a day off in lieu some staff get it because they used to work for a different company but they have been working with us for 5 years now can staff be treated differently

Yes, it would depend on what your/their contract said.

Until recently I worked in the rail industry. Staff who were ex-British Rail had different conditions to those who had joined the privatised company. This was perfectly legal, as is your employer's policy.

Also, every hour worked was at the same rate whether it was a weekday, Sunday, bank holiday, overtime or whatever. All perfectly legal and, to me, all perfectly sensible.

Hi I had the same trouble once, so I was told to telephone ACAS, I did and they told me its not law for companies to pay any bank holidays that they only do so as a good will gesture.

Just goes to show what a bunch of @rses your employers are. You can tell alot about how a company values their staff by looking at issues like this. If I was you I would be considering what other options I have.

Contract of employment, not having ago at you, but so many people don't read contracts etc, they see a wage packet
