i am completely conflicted, you see shows like DIY SOS and see these marvellous parents with their health professionals and of course these wonderful children and my sympathy knows no bounds. however i have these nagging doubts about quality of their lives. a lot of these syndromes have absolutely no chance of being eradicated AT THE MOMENT! if i could find a cure i wouldn't want any reward for it, their future lives would see to that. does anybody else share these feelings? the last thing i want to do is hurt anybodys feelings. please tell me there is some hope.
I think I understand you - you mean when the the parents say 'We know he enjoys that' for example, I feel that as they spend every waking moment (usually) with their child then they know what they are talking about.
It may not be obvious on camera to us the viewers.
Usually DIY SoS involves parents who have a disabled child and don't have the means to adapt their homes.
I know what magpie means. I have no doubt they are loved and cared for but, to have the gift of healing, to know that you could give them something that would bring them a normal healthy life would be the best thing in the world. It seems so unfair for children to suffer so much.
bednobs DiY SOS is much more than a fixing-up tv show it rescues many people from pitiful situations and it is a very caring show brilliantly hosted by nick knowles. i was only using it as a reference point because they deal with ordinary people.
