In my opinion the idea that inactivity and 'not using our brains' leads to dementia has gained credence due to the fact that those without dementia are able to use their brains whilst those afflicted with it can not any longer. I believe it is a case of muddling up cause and effect.

My humble opinion on this one, for what it's worth, but living with a victim, is that dementia can affect anyone....however, those who do not use their brain to read, crosswords, whatever - even AB, are leaving themselves at more risk to contracting the condition. Disease to me is too aggressive a term, unless it's like Terry Pratchett's - which was 'accelerated dementia'...he kept most of his marbles - and public exposure (good on him) until about his last 6 months on this planet.

On that theory of mine as to contributing to AB, ummmm will be low risk!!!
