Hi group, my relationship with my partner of 28yrs is at an end, she is asking for closure and needs what is hers, we have 3 properties, all in joint names, 100k shared in bonds and just short of 200k savings in Isa's etc. She has never worked, but has been a good mother to our children and a hard worker at home, alas the inevitable question is, what is she entitled to?
kindest regards to all
Yes, marriage makes a difference because then proceedings are under the various matrimonial statutes rather than trust principles. Plus with a marriage, the wife would have the ability to go for pension sharing or maintenance.
With that amount of finance involved, proper legal advice is essential for both parties because there is likely to be a great deal more to this than the AB contributors can advise on.
depends on how old your children are and if they are classed as being dependent. other than that, after 28 years......half. were you expecting anything else? if my hubby even thought for one second of trying not to do that i would be very, very annoyed. and you can also get a prison sentence if you attempt to hide assets or do anything other than play fair (just saying).
I wasn't being tight, I wasn't being anything. In my eyes she deserves half of everything, even though she was unfaithful to me. You cant stop loving someone overnight.
