No - it just makes more headlines.
Alcohol is an ingrained aspect of our culture - as is its attendant abuse and crime stimulation.
Dope is still seen as 'them thar nasty drugs that them young folks do and get up to no good with ...' so they are a simpler target.
But bigger news coverage does not equate with bigger social harm - 33% of corpses in road deaths have excess alcohol in them - it will be a long time before drug abuse catches up to that sad statistic.
