Question is a very broad one. I only watched limited coverage of the World Cup and I can't really comment on the state of the domestic scene.

Regarding the WC it is interesting that we have a repeat of the 2011 final which maybe provides a clue to answering the question. Some countries clearly have more talent at their disposal and there were some very high scoring victories.

No point in comparing to the men's game and the English ladies did well after losing their opener against France.

I saw some skilful players and some naivete in equal measure.

Expect the USA to win the cup.

2-0, ag, 6/1:-)

TTT ...rugby fan response

Douglas...what don't you believe?

Ken...what comparison?

Tilly...men playing netball...oxymoron?

Maggie...green cheese???
As far as one sided games go I have one thing to say:
Men's World Cup Semi Final 2014:
Brazil 1, Germany 7
Oh how some would have mocked if that had happened in the women's semi final

Who has mentioned a one sided game?
"Some countries clearly have more talent at their disposal and there were some very high scoring victories. "

So nobody mentioned one sided games then?

High scoring games do not necessarily equate to one sided games.
Yes, they went all the way to Canada, and that's a fair old distance.
In all seriousness, some of us would have loved to have had the opportunity to play football when we were younger, but were stuck on a blooming netball court (with all apologies to Jogger Jane ) as football wasn't considered 'a girl's game' at school. I referee now, and it's wonderful to see the enthusiasm that girls have for the game, and our women should hopefully inspire them even further.
It always seems to me, that a lot of time is someone taking the ball right up to the opponent's goal, he they pass it all the way back to the goalie.
Bit of a waste of time.
The only one kicking the ball in the right direction, is the goalie.
They could pass it forwards, sideways, or diagonal.
And I have noticed, a lot of goals scored, are caused through, passing back.
I also wonder at coach's, saying they have plans, How! you cannot plan on something like a ball, that rolls, and can be diverted, by a bump in the ground.
Oh, I did mean both Men and Women's matches.
I watched most of the women's matches, and thought they were all quite good, My best wishes go out to them.
If joeluke has a family which contains those of a non-male gender I would recommend that they buy a few footballs and leave him to his own cooking and cleaning.
If England's men football team had reached the third spot in a world cup, they would have been hailed as hero's, but because it's the woman's team what do we get?
"a little frantic,very little control"
"hardly any skill,no intensity"
"don't start comparing them to men's football"
The last I agree with, the men no longer have the heart to play for their country, their interest lies no further then the next wage packet. It's sad to say but playing for their country is no longer important to them.
You are dead right Vulcan, the men only want the money, they don't care about their country.
