I used some Hedrin Once for head lice, as one of my grandchildren apparently has them. However, I have since read that this should only be used when live lice have been found, not just as a precaution. Why is this, sounds a good idea to me to take 'just in case', the product says it will not build up immunity.

It's a pesticide.
Use the natural method. Lot's of conditioner and a nit comb. That's the 'just in case' method'
My daughter was told not to use any products as a "just in case" but, as ummmm says, conditioner and a nit comb weekly.
