Eddie51 - //Ian Brady has been begging to be allowed to commit suicide for decades, there is no way they are going to allow him to do it. He is such a high profile prisoner that a suicide by him would mean a huge investigation. They just want to let him suffer for as long as possible. //
It may seem like semantics, but Ian Brady does not wish to commit suicide, he wishes to be allowed to die, which is not the same thing.
Brady has been force-fed for the last fourteen years since he went on hunger strike. He is being kept in a secure mental institution because his sanity is questioned, and he is also believed to be suffering from dementia. Legally, because Brady is not of sound mind, he is force-fed because he is not deemed fit to make decisions affecting his own safety and well-being. Brady in turn contends that this infringes his human rights.
And let's save the cyber-space by taking as read all the outrages about his victims and similar anger and bile - it doesn't help, so let's not, and say we did.
