I admit to being a "Crazy Cat Lady" and my little ones know that I am putty in their tiny little paws. But I have to say that I had never considered the need for this item. I am not sure that there IS a need for it, but .....

Chris - have you put up posters and all that stuff. I have two cats who would never survive out there on the mean streets of Perth. I hope that she is okay. Can you imagine living in a house with your four adult offspring?

I started off earlier with 'no, you are not getting a treat, and after incessant meowing for what felt like a lifetime (and in stereo) I gave in. I am weak.

I last saw Patches at around 4am on Sunday 5th. On Wednesday 8th I put leaflets through the doors of all the houses within her normal territory (and a bit beyond), asking people to check their garages and sheds. A woman down the road said that she was sure she'd seen her on Monday 6th.
On Thursday 9th I put up posters around the area and I've since emailed the local Cats Protection people (in case she arrives with them as a stray) and put her details on AnimalSearch.co.uk.
There's still no sign of her and I've probably got to assume that she's gone forever :(
However there's a possibility that she's simply found herself a new home somewhere (as she did when she first arrived at my house); I'm not sure that she was really comfortable sharing a small house with 4 other cats! I hope that's the case as I'd willingly give her up to someone else (even though I'd still miss her tremendously) if I thought that she'd be happier with them.
In the meantime her 4 children seem to be getting more affectionate than ever. (There's nearly always at least one of them seeking some fuss from me). So, despite the absence of Patches, I can't feel really low; they simply won't let me!

They are not the most sociable of animal so it is understandable that the kittens were, maybe, getting on her nerves. It is good that the four of them get along.

You may never get Patches back but it must be awful not knowing where she is. Is she chipped?

No, she's not chipped.
Although one of the pet stores in Ipswich will micro-chip pets for a tenner each, I didn't want to subject them all to long car journeys there and back. At around £30 each for the service at our local vets, I decided that I couldn't really afford it. Anyway, Patches is so distinctive that anyone who see the posters will know if they've seen her.

That reminds me of a few weeks ago when Tablo was trying to decide whether she was brave enough to jump out of my bedroom window. She didn't actually get any choice because Moonbeam was standing next to her and suddenly swiped her with his paw. The result was one airborne cat!

One of ours came back after 14 days, very thin and weak.
He had been locked in someone's cupboard. ....We eventually worked out that he used to visit a neighbour via her catflap. We knew that someone was feeding him as he often threw up stuff that I knew we hadn't given him, but we didn't know who it was.
Anyway, that neighbour moved away, but obviously the cat didn't know so popped in through the cat flap for his supplementary feed. The new people had no idea that they had been visited by a cat and accidentally locked him in a cupboard. Having just moved on, it was a while before they checked that particular cupboard and found him very much the worse for wear by that time.
When we got him home (he had his collar on with our phone number, no chip) his sister was absolutely fuming and greeted him with hissing and spitting to such an extent that we had to keep them separated for several days until he regained his strength.
He has since passed on to the great cattery in the sky and his sister is happy as larry now being the only cat in the house.
Long story, but do not lose hope. I have a friend whose cat turned up momths and months after she went missing.

I have trouble with people who take in cats....they must know that the cats belong to someone who will be worried about them. ( I know, cats don't belong to you, they just choose to live with you.) It is easy to tell the difference between a well cared for well fed cat and a stray and , even though the cat may choose to stay with the new people, I think they should make an effort to find the owner and let them know that kitty is OK.

A few hours later she came back in, jumped on my knee and fell fast asleep for a couple of hours.
That same evening I was in bed when she came in, jumped on my bed and slept alongside me all night long.
I checked all of the noticeboards in the area for the next couple of weeks but nobody seemed to know anything about her, so she simply stayed.
That's why I think that she might now simply have found another cat-friendly human!
