We just dont know what else to do.? Can someone help please.?

I don`t know anything about benefits but my hairdresser decided that she wanted to get rid of her useless lump of a husband and he said he wouldn`t leave he house, wouldn`t give her money for the kids etc. I told her to find a solicitor who will give a half hour free consultation so that she could find out where she stood. She did that (and is now divorced). It`s nice to see the end result which is that her and her kids are happy. See if you can find a solicitor who will offer the free service or failing that, contact the CAB.
Thankyou everyone...I have passed all this onto her. She has to go back on tuesday to see someone not sure what that is.. at the moment everything seems very daunting to her..as I expect every woman in this situation has felt. She has her name down at the job center....after a very unfreindly person spoke to her there..... do they have to be so nasty to people when they are already feeling terrible about themsleves.?
mazie it has given me hope that the children and my daughter will be alright in the end.. Just wish her husband would stop trying to get the children to get her to have him back.! and his father.! It is upsetting them all over again.
Anyway again thankyou xx

Her drunk of a husband is legally bound to provide financial support for their children until they are at least school leaving age. He cannot refuse as they are equally his responsibility and that includes providing a roof over their heads. She should get legal advice about getting him forced to pay his share of the bills. Likely if she applies for housing or other benefits they will ask how much he is contributing and if not why not.
