I am writing this on my apple tablet and have got Chrome installed on it.. I seem to suddenly be inundated by adverts and have looked up how to block them but don't understand the instructions.Can anyone help please?

That's an interesting trick H. There are a few ways you can remove the icon. When you start tomorrow try this first: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen layout. (Reset is right at the bottom of the General menu). Come back if it doesn't help

hc is right when you open Safari it will open at the last page you had up on screen.

Oh, that's fine then. Thank you. Yes it's still on my Apple tablet. I should have had some instruction when I bought it last year, but circumstances were that I couldn't so have gradually picked things up as I've gone along. I don't know whether I can still get tuition-think it would be worth the cost. I'll make some enquiries. Thank you all for your interest and help.

There are some great easy to follow books available for your iPad, helly. Your local library may have some.
There are also online tutorials that you might like, such as this:
