Broken Smoothie Maker

I recently started to make brownies and used my smoothie maker to mix the eggs and caster sugar for 6 minutes, varying the speed. After doing this on two different occasions I saw that the smoothie maker spikes/ plastic bit had melted! The machine did get fairly warm. The rubber innards had melted leaving the spikey bit slanty. I don't understand why this happened - is the machine not able to withstand 6 mins of mixing?

I doubt a smoothie maker is as hard wearing as a blender/food processor would be. Anyway...you could have mixed the eggs and sugar by hand in far less time. Sorry if I'm being cheeky.

Probably not made for continuous operation for that length of time....how long would it be running if you were making a smoothie?

agree with gingerbee - 6 minutes seems a long time to leave a small motor runnin. The motors in these macines are quite small and not designed for continuous running.
