American Ski Resorts
10 Answers
Hi, I am wondering if anybody has any advice based on experience of American ski resorts? We are looking at a 10 day trip, potentially as a small group. We have been to Jasper before in Canada (7 days, long way to go for a week!) and frequented Europe a lot.
We are all early 30's, no kids, like skiing and nice restaurants/bars. Not after a party-central type place, but something not family orientated I suppose.
Mixed ability of skiers, looking for somewhere beautiful (which Jasper is) but it has to be in America.
Also do many resorts over there have ski-in and ski-out type accommodation, or like Jasper, do they all require a bus transfer to the slopes?
Thanks in advance!

went to breckenridge colorado a few years ago - it's got varied ski terrain from near vertical double blacks to wide cruising blues; the ski base isn't in town but the buses are frequent and you can ski into town on the way home. the town is a mix of modern and authentic wild west, and there's a mix of party hot spots and quieter venues. the local micro brew beer is particularly nice. the altitude takes a bit of getting used to, and because water boils at less than 100C getting a hot cup of tea is a problem.
breck is near some other nice resorts such as arapahoe basin and vail, and when i went, there was some ski pass interavailability. vail's back bowls are awesome.
