Chinese Funerals

my sister asked me yesterday have you ever seen a chinese funeral ? and the answer was no , i asked a few friends and they all said no . i never seen a tombstone with a chinese name on neither so where or how do they bury them , even if they are cremated never seen them in the funeral car neither , has anyone on here ?

My Mum is buried a few feet away from a gravestone, with lost of Chinese writing on, if that is any help.

Anfield Cemetery in Liverpool has a pretty big Chinese section - normal gravestones except for the writing.

Tez....I have just remembered that a lady that worked in the Pay Dept. of BT where I live was called Miss Su. She was a Catholic and she is buried quite near my Dad. There is some Chinese writing of the stone and also a passage in Latin !

It's unfair to give the deceased such an entertaining show when he is already stiff and in his box :-( Can't see it then. At least ours are suitably solemn and contemplative.

There are a few in my local cemetery - maybe here they adopt our habits - not sure what they do at home - but you`ve piqued my interest .

When my OH was researching his family history a while ago, he went to East London cemetery to look for his grandmother's grave. He found the right plot, but the whole area was filled with Chinese headstones and he was told that other burials had taken place over the top of earlier ones, presumably to save space. I guess this happens quite a lot in some areas if there is no space nearby to build a new cemetery. He was a bit disappointed but that's life (or death) :)
