Banished And Songs Of Praise.

So the followers of Banished are not able to see a further series because of the cost involved. But there is money available to film Songs of Praise from the immigrant camp in Calais. At a time when there is daily disruption I think it is a total disgrace and an insult to use the immigrant situation to make a programme to be shown on a Sunday afternoon. No respect for us as licence payers.

The observation isn't mine, I heard it from a vicar on the radio today! I wish I had his name, I could hook you up and you could argue it out with him!

andy-hughes, That’s the problem. Preachers tell their listeners what they want them to believe and rather than investigate it for themselves, the listener more often than not believes what he's hearing – and sometimes broadcasts it as fact. Your vicar's argument wouldn’t last long.
However, Jesus isn’t the issue here – we were merely side-tracked by a couple of misinformed posts. Since we are intermittently reminded of 'the rules', perhaps it would be courteous to give other contributors who would rather concentrate on the OP a little consideration and allow them to get on with the discussion.

I've just googled Banished (had no idea what it was) but it seems it's a baby compared to Songs of Praise (apparently been going since 1961). I don't watch either and I'm not religious but I can see why the BBC would chose to film an episod of SoP from Calais, topical and 'up-to-date'. Watch it or don't watch it, either way it's not going to bring back Banished - it's like trying to add up apples and oranges.
I am just sad that banished is not coming back for S2 it's one of the best things I've seen on the BBC for a very long time, but I guess no matter what they do someone will be unhappy... My view would be to cancel the drivel that is Eastenders however my boyfriend would walk over hot coals to watch it (he lied about watching it for two years!) so they will never win - but that's a big shame and now I'm off to sulk ;)
