In 2015 they went more central, and became more like their coalition partner, but more caring. It failed dismally.
Not all left wing policies are unpopular. Getting us out of the EU could be a vote winner.

If Corbyn wins and decides to support exiting the EU (he has made plenty of anti-Eu statements) then it could turn a lot of voters pro-Labour. (Probably with reservations.)
Cameron's 'wait and see what I can negotiate' stance with the EU is not doing him any good - especially as people are very suspicious these days and look cynically at the wording of 'promises' and 'get-out clauses'.
