Problem With Dogs Paw.
13 Answers
My friend has a little Chinese crested dog.
There seems to be something wrong one of e claws on her front paw.
Its looks larger than the others and looks tender.
She seems to protect it when you approach her.
We took it to a vet who said she may have a hormonal problem and he wanted to do some tests.
Has anyone had a similar experience with a dog?
How should we proceed please?

There are many different hormones in our bodies and it could be something like her thyroid that is causing the problem.
Your friend should either see another vet if she/he does not trust this one or talk over things with this vet. Although a blood test will not be cheap if they are able to diagnose the problem it might be worth having it done.
I think that there are a few bad vets out there who are in it for the money but by far the bulk of them are vets because they love animals.
Good luck

wolf 63 - i know my last vet very much was out for the money - as I was weeping over Harvey when he was dying - he kept saying Conne £150 please, and he said please make sure you see Marie to pay £150 - on the way out.
I have now changed vet Polish but just down at the bottom of the street - I had bought medication some time ago but she wanted to see how he was doing. So naively I brings Maxie in - she looks at his skin - oh he seems fine - that was it. I walk out and off home - within minutes and the following two days I was asked for £10 for her to look at him. So by far I am beginning to think the vets are out for the money - very much. I am sad at that tho.

My vets are lovely like that. I took one dog in out of hours because he had D and V. there was only the vet there. i made sure that i had taken payment with me but he didn't know how to take payment when I offered as the reception ladies do all that. I pointed out that I wouldn't get out of the house again until my dog was well again (I live alone) and he just said "that's ok come in when you can"
