I have completed this but not sure about 1 across - Bobby discarded loose garment -SLO? - I have SLOP which fits the reference to loose garment but I don't get the Bobby discarded bit!

While slop (2) in Chambers is a 'loose garment', slop (3) is '[obsolete] a policeman', ie a discarded [word for a] bobby.

I agree with you mra, some answers seem easy but not much help to you without the reasoning.

I don't feel I've finished a crossword myself unless I understand why my answers are correct. There are some puzzles where you can never be quite sure, and I try to avoid them!
